Firefox/4.0 Windows Theme Mockups

without comments

Looks nice, but I think they’re starting to try and look too much like Chrome and IE (especially when you look at this in conjunction with some of the 3.7 ideas). KISS.

I really dislike the tabs-on-top “feature”. The combo stop/refresh/go feature is awesome, though.

New Firefox add-on in Ubuntu Karmic redirects Google searches to… a custom search engine?

without comments

Apparently, the extension (enabled by default) automatically opens all new tabs to the Ubuntu Start Page. Worse, all searches using the Google search bar in the top right redirect to an Ubuntu custom search engine, which (to the ire of the forum) includes ads at the top.

Pretty pathetic at a first glance, though I think I’ll wait to pass judgment until after Canonical gets back.

Edit: Bug report is up.

Twitter very upset about the word… tweet?

without comments

Basically, Twitter’s starting to be really protective of its trademark. The irony: Twitter had a huge problem back when everyone was “twitting” and Leo Laporte left to protect his trademark.
