Who

From andrewmin.com, my personal homepage

I’m a Christian, a Ubuntu Linux Lover, a geek, and a writer (in that order). I was born in New York City, and currently live in New Jersey. I’m an evangelical, non-denominational Christian who believes in the literal literary accuracy of the original Greek and Hebrew texts of the Bible. I run Ubuntu Linux instead of Windows, which I abhor with all of my heart. I use Gmail for my email, OpenOffice.org for my word processor, and Firefox for my web browsing. I also enjoy sports like baseball (go Yanks!), Ultimate Frisbee, and taekwondo. And I’ve been playing fantasy football for three years now.

What

Ranging from online software to offline apps, Windows (blargh!) to Linux, and news to howtos, The Warden is your guide to the highest quality news.

There are three categories: Links, Blurbs, and Articles. Links are basically my personal bookmarks. Technology tidbits I find interesting but aren’t worth writing a whole article on. Blurbs are a few paragraphs on a certain topic; a sort of extended Link. And Articles (which you can subscribe to in a separate RSS feed) are feature articles (the type you’d find in magazines). Don’t expect these very often.

When

I began blogging on this particular blog on November 9th, 2008. My first post, a blurb, was on using usb creator and Linux Mint.

Where

This blog is hosted by Dreamhost. Dreamhost is awesome. Buy hosting from them.

Why

I’ve done a lot of work for other people. I’ve freelanced for Mashable, Linux Journal, and Linux.com. I write columns for Free Software Magazine and Full Circle Magazine.

If you’re wondering how the blog got its name, it’s a longish story. First, there was “Andrew’s Blog”. And it was boring. Then, it was while(alive){actgeek=true};. And it was way too long and unpronounceable. And then, one day, I realized that an anagram for Andrew is “warden”. Being that my personality type (ISTJ) is also very warden/guardian-ish, I decided that this was going to be the new name for my blog.

How

This blog proudly runs Wordpress as its blogging engine. It also uses Lucian E. Marin’s Journalist theme.
