Why Microsoft should make the ZunePhone

without comments

Matt Burns has some interesting thoughts over at CrunchGear on why Microsoft should make a ZunePhone. Here’s the problem: it will look like, once again, Microsoft is just playing catch up. Microsoft will need to add some real killer feature. A nice touch interface, even if it’s better than the iPhone, won’t be enough. The Android’s interface is arguably nicer, but the iPhone still sells more. The Nokia n810 is nicer than the iTouch, but no one buys it. You need a “coolness” factor.

Speaking of which, watch this hilarious YouTube parody from a couple of years ago.

OpenOffice five times more popular than Google Docs (though it’s rather inflated)

without comments

Well, no duh. The problem with Google Docs right now is that it’s underpowered. Basic editing is all it can do. And the basic stuff it can do isn’t very good. Random line breaks, lack of paragraphs, and more make it almost unusable except as a very basic collaboration tool. And I like Google.

Of course, another big reason is that OpenOffice.org is pre-installed in most Linux distributions, most notably Ubuntu. Now, if you looked at Windows stats, the numbers will probably be much closer.
