OpenOffice five times more popular than Google Docs (though it’s rather inflated)

Well, no duh. The problem with Google Docs right now is that it’s underpowered. Basic editing is all it can do. And the basic stuff it can do isn’t very good. Random line breaks, lack of paragraphs, and more make it almost unusable except as a very basic collaboration tool. And I like Google.

Of course, another big reason is that OpenOffice.org is pre-installed in most Linux distributions, most notably Ubuntu. Now, if you looked at Windows stats, the numbers will probably be much closer.
